Racist Stickers in Dublin

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Monday August 19, 2002 15:35author by AFA - Anti Fascist Action, Irelandauthor email afa at ireland dot comauthor address C/o PO Box 3355, Dublin 7

Prior to the Dublin -v- Donegal replay on Saturday 17th a large number of racist stickers appeared in the Dorset Street / North Circular Road area, one of the main routes of fans to Croke Park. These stickers were immediately removed by AFA members, thanks to the Cork lads who assisted.

The stickers were of three different types and had the following slogans:
__________________________
Number 1:
Invasion!
Danes, Normans, Cromwell, Black & Tans!
NOW!
Romanians, Bosnians, Nigerians!
WERE YOU ASKED? IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT?
Write to the Government - Tell them your feelings!

Number 2:
G.P.O. 1916
There were no Nigerians, Bosnians, Romanians, in the G.P.O. in 1916
Now it is full of them
COLLECTING YOUR MONEY
Write to the Government - Tell them your feelings!

Number 3:
FREE! FREE! FREE!
Houses, Clothes, Buggies, Hospitals, Doctors, Maternity, Medicine, Phones, Credit, Socialising Money!
SORRY, NO IRISH NEED APPLY!
JUST PAY FOR IT!
Only Nigerians, Bosnians, Romanians!
TELL THE GOVERNMENT IF YOU AGREE WITH THIS!
__________________________
The stickers are white, 10cm X 10cm. They did not contain any organisation name or address, but there is little doubt it is the so-called 'Irish Peoples Party', who have stickered this route before, particularly before big GAA games.

If anyone has come across similar stickers in other areas please let us know - afa@ireland.com.
