As defenders of free speech we resent Britain's draconian hate speech laws. But until they're repealed they should be applied impartially ? and that means prosecuting antisemitic rappers too, says Laura Perrins.

Tá cruinniú práinneach á eagrú ag Conradh na Gaeilge agus Guth na Gaeltachta le cás Oifig an Choimisinéara Teanga agus leis an athbhreithniú ar Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla 2003 a phlé.

Reáchtálfar an cruinniú in Óstán Pillo, Bóthar Áth Chinn (trasna ó Óstán Menlo Park) i nGaillimh ar an Aoine, 02 Nollaig 2011, ag 2.00in.

D'fhógair an Rialtas an tseachtain seo caite go bhfuil sé i gceist acu Oifig an Choimisinéara Teanga a dhúnadh mar oifig reachtúil neamhspleách, agus a chuid feidhmeanna ar fad a chur isteach faoi Oifig an Ombudsman mar chuid dá phlean athchóirithe don earnáil poiblí.

Tá seo le déanamh in ainneoin gur fógraíodh athbhreithniú poiblí maidir le hAcht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla ag tús na míosa, athbhreithniú go bhfuil ról agus feidhmeanna Oifig an Choimisinéara Teanga ag a chroílár.

D'eagraigh muid agóid lasmuigh den Dáil an tseachtain seo caite le cur
in iúl don Rialtas láithreach ár míshástacht agus uafás leis an
gcinneadh tubaisteach atá glactha acu.

Tá na grianghraif ón agóid tobstailce seo le feiceáil ag http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2639847165186....36060 agus is féidir an preasráiteas ar an ábhar a léamh ag https://cnag.ie/index.php?page=news&news_id=245.

Ba mhaith linn feachtas láidir a aontú leis an méad is mó de phobal na Gaeilge agus Gaeltachta taobh thiar de chun an cinneadh maidir le hOifig an Choimisinéara Teanga a throid agus brú damanta a chur ar an Rialtas go dtí go ndéanfar an cinneadh a fhreaschuir. Tar, tacaigh linn agus scaip an scéal!
