The International tribunal for the law of the Sea has just announced its decision and it has effectively rejected Ireland's case. While there is provision for Ireland to continue with its cases to other appeal bodies including the OSPAR Convention, and the EC Treaty and The EURATOM Treaty, we have effectively been 'kicked out of court' by the law of the Sea Convention and the Irish taxpayer has even been directed to bear the Irish share of the costs involved.

Since the OSPAR, EC and EURATOM treaties are stacked in favour of the nuclear industries, Ireland's chances of getting a successful outcome from these bodies are also very limited.

It is now time for serious direct action by environmental groups. The voices of the people and the action of mass protests must succeed where legal arguments have been brushed aside.

The health and safety of future generations are at stake.

The time for waiting is over.

We need to get massive demonstrations of Irish people over to Sellafield.

The time for just talking is coming to a close.
