University of Limerick to be picketed

CALLING ALL PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN PRESERVING OUR PLANET...

Most of you may know something about this Limerick campaign - but it is
probably happening around the corner from you too.... The Irish government
and the construction industry don't give two hoots about special areas of
prevervation which are supposedly protected by European Law.

As I write this, I can hear the diggers working on the site. They are
taking up the top soil to put down the road to connect to the bridge. They
have put down all the poles for the fence of the construction site. On one
side of the site, they have dug up the roots of a large tree, which must be
100 years old at least. It is happening NOW. We need your HELP NOW.

This Thurs., Aug. 29th, we plan to do a walking circular picket at the
front gate of UL at 7.30pm (where flag poles are) (as there's a concert on
in the concert hall), and give out leaflets to the passing cars. If there
are enough of us, some can be outside the concert hall giving out info too.
Drums and placards are needed. We plan to let 5 cars pass every 5/10 mins,
so police cannot say we're blocking the road. The purpose of this action
is to embarrass the university and raise awareness among people of Limerick.
We call all of you to join us in this non-violent action as construction
begins on this amazing place along the Shannon.
