category dublin | economics and finance | event notice author Tuesday March 28, 2017 22:33author by tasc - Think-tank for Action on Social Change

On Thursday 30th March, Dr Brendan K. O'Rourke, DIT, will deliver a talk entitled: 'The Economy and Public Discourse'.

How do we talk about the economy? To whom do we listen about the economy? In these times of austerity, Brexit and right-wing populism, these questions are crucial for those who value democracy and equality. Can we avail ourselves of expertise on the economy and at the same time avoid accepting elitist ideologies? How can we understand the role of the media in this process? This seminar overviews some of the discourse analytical research being done in this area.

The seminar will take place in TASC's offices in Castleriver House, 14-15 Parliament Street, Dublin 2. (Entrance on Essex Street East).

The event, which is free of charge, will run from 12.45 tea/coffee with the seminar starting at 13.00 and ending at 14.15 sharp.

The idea of the lunchtime seminars is that you are free to bring your own 'brown bag' lunch to eat. Complimentary tea and coffee will be available.

Please RSVP to Sylvia Byrne on 01 6169050 or by email to sbyrne@tasc.ie if you wish to attend.

Date for your diary, the next seminar in the series this year:
