Encourage UK to phase out nuke power

British Energy in Crisis. UK have options - 1, a financial bail out which makes a mockery of privitisation; 2, a complicated trade off with other nuke powers and public cash; 3, follow the Germans and announce a phase out of nuclear power over a realistic time frame.

Hi,

Coincident with the return of the refused MOX from Japan, we are actually on the brink of the biggest decision about the future of the UK's nuclear industry. British Energy who own 15 nuke plants are going bust following provitisation 6 years ago. The UK government may choose to follow the German lead in announcing a phase out of nuclear power over 20 years.
Sellafield will not close until the international nuclear industry is phased out. I encourage concerned parties to put their precious time and energy into encouraging the UK government to do the right thing - a well managed phase out of nuclear power over a realistic time frame. A second priority at the moment is preventing the proposed new Finnish nuclear station being built - only the second new nuke plant in the EU since Chernobyl. This seems to me to be the best strategic deployment of anti-nuclear sentiment at this moment.
