A meeting was held in Conway Mill on 25th of August called by RSF to discuss the current plight of republician POWs in Maghabery prison.

A meeting was held in Conway Mill on 25th of August called by RSF to discuss the current plight of republician POWs in Maghabery prison.
The meeting was attended by members of the IRSP, 32CSM, IRPWA, as well as non-aligned individuals and family members of the present POWs - the common cause being concern for the Prisoners.

Its was agreed by the body of the hall that a steering committee would be set in place to co-ordinate a campaign calling for segregation for
the POWs as a first step on the path to a restoration of full Political status.

* Its was agreed that all groups and individuals who so wished should be represented on the committee.

* It was also decided that the Committee would be on the similar lines to the H-Block/Armagh committee formed during the dark days of the Blankets and Hunger Strike protest.

* It was agreed that the committee would work under the title
'Republican Prisoners Action Committee'.

* The committee would not fund-raise as this might cause confusion and be to the detriment to the groups currently supporting POWs and their
families.

The body of the hall nominated a committee of 13 and they agreed to meet at the end of August to allocate postions and decide strategy.

It was also agreed that another public meeting would take place on September 29th.
