God, I just had to rely on the mainstream media once again. For what? News of Carrickmines!!!
The frontpage story on IMC, one of Ireland's most pertinent actions, located in DUBLIN!! - bloody hell! I thought your meeting was gonna make some news and volunteers flow???? A
re you really interested in serious reporting - efficient and comprehensive? It's not all that hard to do you know! Can nobody go to Carrickmines site and do an audio interview and post it? Or even get a protester to write it???
Most people, myself included, will continue to rely on and respect the Independent and other dubious news sources until IMC decides to get out of bed!!! By the way! There have been several mainstream media news updates and developments on this story and NOTHING on IMC!!

What about you? Why don't you go to Carrickmines and get an interview? Why don't you write a new story?
You don't need a special badge or secret handshake to be indymedia. You can write these articles yourself. This is an open publishing site, and nobody is getting paid (certainly not by you) to write stories. So don't complain that nobody else is writing these articles - DO IT YOURSELF!
yes. I'll do it from my wheelchair in Lambeth, London!!!
Great stuff!
If you read the existing articles on Carrickmines you'll see there's a mobile phone number for the protestors. So yes, you could conduct an interview with them from a wheelchair in Lambeth, London.
I'm betting that most of those complaining about the lack of new stories aren't so far away.
The feature updates may be slow but remember that Indymedia.ie had the Carrickmines occupation story on the newswire BEFORE any other Irish media.
Indymedia.ie had footage of the RTS rally that mainstream media didn't bother to cover.
Indymedia.ie was the only media willing to publish the Ansbacher report online in its entirety.
The news that the Tokyo Electric nuclear power utility had falsfied safety data and was supending its MOX program was even posted on Indymedia.ie by a Greenpeace insider BEFORE it hit the Japanese corporate media - and 3 days before there was a mention of it in irish commercial media.
With a minute fraction of the resources of commercial, mainstream media Indymedia.ie has done a huge amount in the 8 or 9 months since it went live.
Imagine what could be done with more people actively involved.
Indymedia Ireland is a media collective. We are independent volunteer citizen journalists producing and distributing the authentic voices of the people. Indymedia Ireland is an open news project where anyone can post their own news, comment, videos or photos about Ireland or related matters.
