Chainsaw crews are presently cutting down trees on the site of Carrickmines castle. 2 trees are already felled. Only 3 activists are currently on site and they do not have the resources to stop the felling.
This is a call for all concerned with the fate of the Carrickmines Castle site to come to the site immediately to try and halt the felling of trees. The professional chainsaw crew came on site this morning. We anticipate that they will work through the weekend. Please spread the word throught the activist community. I urge those attending the Reclaim the Streets event in Dublin to go to Carrickmines Castle instead and Reclaim your Heritage.

Jump To Comment: 1 2I just got back and while they got a couple trees and scraped up some walls of the ruins with their bulldozers, nothing significant happened.
What is significant is that the construction company seems to be testing the situation by watching the reactions of the pro-castle side.
When they were informed that Govt ministers & TD's, etc had been called and dozens of supporters were on their way to stop the destruction, they layed off and left the scene.
This week and weeks to come it is very important to be ready to defend the castle with people-power - non-violently, of course.
From my understanding of the politics of the situation, victory is near if people stick to it. Momentum is gaining for the pro-castle side of this seige, so do join in and come up to visit when you can.
