to be able to see whats new on the site

Its seems that as days go by some articles sink lower on the newswire list, dispite the fact they are hot and still being discussed - this sort of buries them and doesnt help continue the discussion.

Im suggesting, and perhaps this will happen in the new version of the site, that someone who visits the site in the morning and then logs on in the evening can see which topics have had messages added.

Showing the date of the original post is ok but there should be a way to see which topics are still being discussed.

What do people think?

In terms of search engines and looking up a large topic like education or pollution perhaps we need defined classifications which would function as drop down menus so people select when they publish what the article is about
