A long fight on the so-called EU baby food directive is now coming to an end in Norway. On Thursday the Norwegian parliament, the Stortinget, will accept the EU directive on baby food in spite of warnings on health risks.

Two parties, the Senterpartiet (Center Party) and the Sosialistisk Venstre (Leftists) will propose that Norway lay down a veto against the directive according to the EEA Agreement, but this proposal is certain to be turned down by a majority of all other parties.

"All competent authorities have advised Norway not to accept the directive because it may lead to children being fed too great quantities of various proteins, sugar and iron," says Marit Arnstad from the Center Party, according to NRK Nyheter.
