Guardian article explains why Private Finance Initiative so beloved of Blair
Blair's Labour government have been busy pushing their PFI strategy even though most studies of it show it to be inefficient and cost ineffective for all the UK projects. George Monbiot's piece explains that PFI's enduring popularity is because British based companies are, on the basis of the lie that PFI has worked in Britain, busy swindling other countries and bringing the loot back home to the UK.
"But, with the help of such selective accounts, at least 13 other governments have been persuaded to adopt the British model of procurement. Once they have taken the bait, British companies have been the first to offer their services. The first projects in Ireland's massive PFI programme for schools, for example, have been snaffled by Jarvis and Barclays Bank"
