The local council have installed water meters in Connolly square, Bray on an estate used to house old age pensioners.
This is a clear sign that water charges are once again in the pipeline after the election and an indication that their are plans being made behind our backs to privatise this basic service in line with the recommendations of the IMF, WTO etc. WAter privatisation was stopped by mass demonstartions and strikes in Bolivia last year. Catherine Kennedy, general election candidate for the SWP, was invited by local residents to inspect the meters. The local swp branch is calling an emergency anti-privatisation protest at the counncil meeting in the Town Hall Bray for tomorrow, tuesday the 8th of April at 8pm. All organisations and individuals in the locality who are opposed to privatisation of basic services are urged to attend. For more info you can call e-mail me at dlordan@hotmail.com.
