A few hundred people participated in a Cork Peace Alliance anti-war demonstration through the streets of Cork today (16 November). The protest, in the form of a mass funeral, was led by a coffin marked 'Irish neutrality', which in turn was followed by mourners bearing wreaths. Hundreds of leaflets, highlighting the use of Shannon airport by US forces, were distributed and there was a very favourable response from onlookers. One particularly striking feature of the protest was the presence of large numbers of teenagers.
