Help shut down Shannon Warport!
The US military use of Shannon airport continues unabated. In the last year there have been 3 protests at Shannon airport, all of which have succeeded in disrupting the operation of the airport to some extent. The next demo is on December the 8th. So come along and volunteer to help out in putting a spanner in the works of Bush's war plans.
There will be a meeting this Wednesday evening to organise for the demonstration called by Grassroots Gathering for December 8th at Shannon airport. This meeting is open to all who wish to help out in organising the demonstration and we would be very happy for people from any political groups or unaligned individuals to attend. Among the items on the agenda we will be talking about:
* Organising buses to get to Shannon and selling tickets for them
* Agreeing poster designs and organising printing and putting them up
* Agreeing the text for a leaflet advertising the demonstration and distributing them.
* Organising a public meeting in the run-up to the demo.
* Discussing tactics for the day itself and liasing with the other groups from around the country.
The meeting will take place upstairs in the Kings Inn pub, on Bolton St, on Wednesday evening (November 20th) at 7pm. Unfortunately we don't really have any funds so the meeting venue is in a pub, however the upstairs is normally empty and should provide a passable venue for the meeting.

1. By showing up - this is only the list of things that we came up with at the last meeting, anything can be added to the agenda on the night.
2. I suppose so. Anybody who wants to help build for the demo can come along. (This means that people who do not support the demo and are unwilling to help with the organisation of it are not welcome)
I understand that the final details of the demo might not be finalised. However is there a time for the demo or is Sunday 8th about as detailed as it gets at the moment?
We agreed at the Grassroots Gathering that 2pm at Shannon airport would be the kick off time . More information should follow in the coming week about tactics, assembly points, planning meetings etc.. So watch this space.
hey emenen (like cool name), too right for you. I mean like it's less than 3 weeks away and they can't be more exact than 2pm on the 8th at Shannon Airport. I mean seriously goys, I need like more exact details....
i've sent out details on the LAN list (not an abuse i hope) & to others.
i know this is an open invitation but have the various organisations been directly invited along by mail etc? its just a question of being diplomatic ( i know the hilarity of me suggesting diplomacy)
i may not be able to get to the meeting but i will be available to do work for the demo.
