Memorial of Bloody Sunday weekend of the 1st of February. March and meeting throughout the weekend.
Thousands gathered today in Derry at the Bloody Sunday memorial in the Bogside, for a minutes silence to mark the anniversary. This event is one of many planned for the week culminating in the memorial match on Sunday.
Some of the events being planned include:
Thurs 31st: 8:00pm "Scenes from an inquiry" at the Playhouse on Artillery street. Play written and directed by local Academy award nominee Dave Duggan. Repeated on 15th and 16th of Feb.
Friday 1st Feb: 7.30pm
Bloody Sunday Memorial Lecture: Tariq Ali.
Pilot's Row Community Centre, Rossville Street. All welcome.
Sunday 3rd: 30th Annual Bloody Sunday Commemoration March and Rally.
Assemble 2.30pm outside the Creggan shops and march to Free Derry Corner.
Socialist Forum: 4.30pm Pilots Row Community Centre, Rossville St.
All welcome.
I would urge people from around the country to attend the march as it will be one of the biggest ever, and I reckon it would be good to see a red (or even Black) bloc presence at the march instead of the usual Sinn Fein domination.
