Should be fun! - Dublin Chamber of Commerce, IBEC, ISME, the AA and the DCCBA will be blowing a fuse

There are going to be at least 3 seperate protests in Dublin city centre on Wednesday, February 5th and possibly 4 if the taxi drivers decide to go on strike that day as well!

Firstly, a 1-day nationwide strike of all construction workers will take place next Wednesday the 5th in protest at the poor standards of health and safety on many building sites across the country and the coercing of construction workers into the 'self-employed' category therby losing most social welfare benefits. As part of this 1-day strike thousands of construction workers are to march from the Garden of Remberance, Parnell Square at 11am. Then at 1:30pm thousands of students will march from Mountjoy Square in a march organised by the Union of Students in Ireland (USI) and supported by other students as part of the campaign against third-level fees. At 5pm schoolkids will march from the Central Bank Plaza, Dame Street to the Dail on Kildare Street to protest against a war in Iraq, organised by I think, not sure exactly of names here, perhaps somebody out there knows the right names, Youth Against War? and Schoolkids Against War? Also there is a strong possibilty that taxi drivers may stage a strike and march in protest at the lack of vetting of taxi drivers since mullie's thactherite deregulation of the taxi industry a few years ago.

Should be fun! - Dublin Chamber of Commerce, IBEC, ISME, the AA and the DCCBA will be blowing a fuse at all these protests! But anything that annoys Tom Coffey of the Dublin City Centre Business Business Association (DCCBA) and the rest of the merchant princes is fine by me.
