In most of the papers today, the 'assault' on a member of the Garda is mentioned as fact, while others, certainly 'The Examiner'(?!), say that last year a protestor, presumabley Mr. Dubsky, 'claims' to have broken into the airport and spray painted slogans on a US military aircraft. Did I miss something or did that really happen?

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3The media coverage of Shannon which has failed to use any element of the statement put out by 'Catholic Worker' and which uncritically reports the lie that a cop was assaulted is a useful wake up call to those who think getting media coverage is simply about imaginative photo-ops and being nice to journalists.
We know the media read this site because of articles like BoC's in the Sindo (there is something a little ironic in the fact that while he denounced indymedia as not journalism it was obviously the source for almost all the information in his article). So we know they are aware there is another side to this story. So they are either choosing not to cover this or being told not to.
Used the statement by Catholic Worker wholesale - they (while still repeating now as an allegsation rather than fact that a guard was assaulted) covered the whole thing in more detail than other media. Maybe they think the views of their audience are shifting?
Youy guys are so naive, read Chomsky on the media!
