Shannon Republicans Act in Airport
Posted on February 4, 2003 at 00:34:57 AM by Asked to post
Tonight at 6:00pm a group of three Shannon Republicans breached security in order to show how easy it would be to bomb the airport.
The three..one of whom posts here are all residents of shannon. They stuck a bit of paper on the front window of a car imitating a local taxi company and brought a sports bag full of used computer parts into the airport, they left the bag near a american airline ticket desk for 45mins and their was no response from the security services employed at the airport.
Basically they made a fool out of the people who claim that shannon could not be attacked

I apolagise..at the end of my post i was ment to say....that they made a fool out of the people who said Shannon "WOULDNT" be attacked.
Replies:
If it is true about the Irish Army being deployed in Shannon, then I think it is obvious who
now controls our army. While the Garda may have called them in, or was it the US Ambassador,
clearly the Irish Army by protecting US warplanes in Shannon is now working for the
right-wing corporate cabal now holding the reins of power in Washington DC and who it must
not be forgotten, stole the election that got them in. (see www.GregPalast.com).
The media and government have been hysterical over the damage to 'property' but they are
amazingly silent about their role in aiding and assisting the murder that will be this war and
the fact remains:
The Irish Army is being used to protect property. The Irish Army is NOT being used to protect lives.
The government is afraid of the US. They say we owe them. They mention the peace process and jobs,
with the implicit message, forget principles. So what are we left with? The only principle now
is to protect property. Capitalism is all about property and the rights of property. It has nothing
to say about humanity. What we see folks here in Ireland today is the very essence of the State,
when stripped of all it's extra fluff like health, education and the environment which the 'economists'
in the WTO/GATS have ordered that all these be privatized. The essence of the State is the Army
and the Courts to protect property.
The media and their spin-doctors have been making great efforts in the last 24 hours to link
the peace movement with violent and terrorist activity. Virtually no-one would support terrorist
activity, but again the government and the spin-doctors try to stick this label to us, so that
they can criminalize the movement and scare people away. The real terrorists are those who are
planning this war and those who are aiding them.
This can only result in a Irish pacifist protestor being injured or killed by an Irish soldier who is being illegally instructed by the government to protect an illegally present foreign aircraft.
Does this mean that we can get the government into the position of being guilty of some sort of warcrimes?
What sort of precedents are there for this? May as well research the legal basis in advance rather then wait for _when_ it happens.
This is a truly shocking advancement of the criminal attitude of the government. It's a statement of their willingness to kill Irish citizens in order to continue their anti-constitutional behaviour.
Perhaps it's time for some principled action by the Army in defense of the constitution?
It would be nice to see some soldiers refusing to follow orders to point guns at Irish civilians protesting war. They do after all have a fairly honourable tradition of peacekeeping.
How about it lads (and lasses)?
