The Catholic Worker 5 appeared in Aer Og court this afternoon, near Ennis. Deirdre, Damien & Nuin all received bail of 3000 euros each. The conditions are that the three will have to sign on at their local Gardai station twice a day, are banned from entering the county of Clare and can not come within a one mile radius of the US embassy. Although someone in the court room offered Karen a local address she was remanded on the grounds that she has no fixed abode. Ciaron has also been remanded as according to the judge he is far too 'passionate' about what he believes (and damn right too!). Next court date set for 21st of February.

Ban this book!
The most dangerous book ever writ is on sale at Veritas Bookshop, Ennis, Co Clare. My edition, which includes some lovely old poetry by a bard/musician (was it Raftery?) cost €20.30. Veritas is right across the street from Brandons, the hippest pub in Clare.
Now, the problem is if literate people take words literally, and faithful people believe with every atom of their being the written record and word of a guy who never told a lie, never did a wrong thing, who hated corruption and hypocricy, and who worked to change the system that corrupts and involves people in abuse, wars and collusion.... IF all these things THEN revolution.
How to wage revolution properly, effectively and ethically? How can one be non-violent? Is property damage violent.
Well, there was that one time He lost the rag. He got pissed off, on entering the "house of God," a house he rarely entered, and finding the money changers and loan sharks parked inside. He went into a violent rage, made whips out of leather thongs and beat the hoors right out of it, the money crashing, rolling and scattered on the floor. He was too disgusted too pick it up?
Ciaran O'Reilly has been labelled by the court as a danger to County Clare because he is "too passionate." No one called him a religious nut. The judge is a literate man. To be a judge one would have had to study Plato. 350BC
Plato said, "What is the fate of the just man? He will be hated, humiliated, beaten, scourged, spat on and end up hanging in a tree."
That's what Plato said. I read it myself. I read some of this stuff in the original Greek.
Mama is having a do on in Limerick in the morning. Will you be there?
What are you doing with your Saturday?
I'm taking the most dangerous book ever writ with me while I go to visit the greatest people in my world.
Don't judge the judge! He was acknowledging with deep respect that he understands where Ciaran O'Reilly is coming from. It's such a far distant place, no one could get there. A few do, very few. And for them this world is so corrupt and evil that they will not survive it, not by ordinary coping means.
So these people need protection from their own belief systems, it would seem. But the thing is, what if God were real? What if the Gospel were true? The judge has allowed for this possibility.
Now, good night children. Enjoy your Saturday.
God forbid that passionate people should be allowed in County Clare.
