Allihies Weekend 2003 February 28 - March 2, 2003 “ENVIRONMENTAL RIGHTS AND SOCIAL JUSTICE”
Workshops identifying environmental rights and priorities in: Water. Global warming. Land use. Waste. Access and rights of way. Trade & Globalisation – the environmental impacts. Environmental controls as social engineering. Fisheries, forestry, aquaculture. CAP and the NGO Bonn and Copenhagen declarations, Report on Johannesburg.
Developing dialogue and partnerships for social justice between Irish environmental, justice and development organisations. Common goals Partners in the national Social Partnership. Integration into the European / World NGOs.
Review of the ENGO Sector & FIE in 2002. Marine Work Group. Web based developments. Developments in Access to Information on the Environment.
Talk & discussion by Sem Karoba on West Papua, tribal democracy and globalisation.

Payment on arrival. Price: 75 Euro. OAPs, students and non-staffed NGOs 25 Euro. From 21 February there will be a late booking charge of 25 Euro.
The price includes vegetarian meals. Accommodation in the Village Hostel is available for 16 Euro per person sharing for the two nights. You must book early to ensure a place in the hostel. Bed and breakfasts or flats are also available - we can provide a list.
The Dublin - Killarney train Friday which leaves Heuston Station at 6.35 PM will be met by a free minibus to Allihies with a return on Sunday. (This bus leaves at 10.00 PM sharp unless the train is late – arrive early for the train and go to the front).
