Sinn Fein to introduce Bill on military neutrality

Sinn Féin is planning to introduce a Bill on military neutrality during the party's first ever private members time in the Dáil next week.

Caoimhghin Ó Caoláin TD, the party's leader in the Dáil, said the party was hoping to have a full-scale debate on neutrality.

Mr Ó Caoláin was speaking today at a press conference setting out Sinn Féin's opposition to a possible war on Iraq. He said the Government's "support for US-British war preparations makes it essential that it is called to account fully on the issue of neutrality".

Mr Ó Caoláin said the Taoiseach and the Minister for Foreign Affairs had refused to state what their position would be if Iraq was attacked without UN backing. He said they had not "credibly refuted reports ... that they will do whatever is required of them by the Bush administration."

Contrasting the Government's position with that of key NATO allies who are "dissenting from their [Britain/US] headlong drive to war", Mr Ó Caoláin said the Government was "supporting the preparations for war through providing facilities at Shannon" while at the same time they "wished to maintain the illusion that this State is neutral."

He said Sinn Féin wished to test the Government's commitment to neutrality by publishing a Bill which would write neutrality into the Constitution.

What a bunch a scumbags. When they're writing their bill on "military" neutrality, they could perhaps spare a thought for the thousands of people their "military" wing murdered over the 30 years of their terrorist campaign. They words "they", "should", "go", "f*ck" and "themselves" come to mind right now.

Why is Peter King (the man who put the Republican into the Republican Party) a cheerleader for war?? why was he on the BBC talking about the French and German nations in a racist and abusive way?

Because he believes violence is the solution. For Iraq, or for Ireland. If you're committed to that agenda then it makes sense.

So why are SF pretending to be anti-war in Iraq but pro-war in Ireland?

You tell me.

The Adams faction, Provo, has aligned itself with the Gombeen/comprador class led by Ahern in a so-called peace process that puts Ireland, North and South, increasingle under the control of Britain, the junior, but very active partner, in the Anglo-American Imperium. By its deceit and treachery the Adams faction has neutered the Irish resistance movement. Ahern and Bush's poodle are now trying to complete the surrender of the IRA so that British troops now in Ireland can be used in the massacre of Iraq. The Sinn Fein 'military neutrality' bill is total hypocrisy and is merely to provide political cover to the increasingly wealthy Provo leadership. It is no accident that Peter King a warhawk is a close personal and ideological fried of Adams. The role of conservative Irish-America in the sell-out of Irish self-determination is derived from their absorption into the Anglo culture of the U.S.

I sometimes have reservations and major doubts about how serious sf are on real issues such as anti globalisation etc, but at least on this anti Islamic crusade they are doing the right thing, although it seems that they were among those who allowed themselves to be frightened and chased out of Shannon by those 'cute hoors' Bertie, Brennan and Cowan. They are correct about neutrality unlike some of the fringe groups who whine on about neutrality not really mattering. So good luck with the effort to get it enshrined in the constitution and keep up the goodwork sf, you are definitely improving over the last coupleof years and you will gain more support if you are genuine on real issues and dont try fooling us like labour etc.
