Plan to occupy key buildings on 'Day X'

With war against Iraq just hours away its now time to up the ante. The minute war starts myself and some people are going to occupy key buildings in Dublin. Near where I work there are at least 7 buildings that I can think off that will have key strategic and propaganda importance by occupying them. Among these buildings are the GPO on O'Connell Street, the Savoy Cinema and the various American burger joints on O'Connell Street. Not only are many of these places owned by American multinationals, but as in the case of the GPO, these buildings are used extensively by US and UK tourists. We have spoken to many of the workers in these buildings and they are fully supportive of our Non Violent Direct Action (NVDA). Bad times call for drastic action (NVDA). Let us know what other NVDAs that you are planning to do and what buildings

Other key strageic places to take over would include the likes of RTE in Donnybrook and the various ESB power generating stations.

Time time for Action is now!
The people have spoken and our leaders have deserted us.
Its time to stand up and be counted
The future is in YOUR hands...

Why are you putting up this kind of posting on Indymedia. You dont think that the authorities monitor indymedia. Not remember the fiasco around Shannon on March 1st?

Why do you want to target buildings that US and UK tourists visit? What have they got to do with the war? Why try to disrupt the holidays of people just because they are from the US and UK?

Surely the most important thing now is to get WORKERS to take action. If workers in the ESB, Airports, GPO, Civil Service etc took action that would be far more effective.

Direct Action is the least we could do to try to stop the Murder of thousands and thousands of women and children.

The Government has sold us out, what other options do we have?

We tried voting (NICE)
We tried Marching F14

Now we must take responsibility for ourselves, there is no one else to leave it up to!

forget about McDonalds thats small time, it manufactures nothing of importance. Road blockages elsewhere will have far more economic impact etc.

At this stage it is even more important that WORKERS take action. Instead of occupying these places, why not talk to an leaflet the workers there? If they take action it will be far more effective than a couple of the usual suspect blockading themselves into a building for a few hours. Workers taking action will stop the war, not a small elitist group that take it on themselves.

Kenneth the real lesson of March 1st is that it was a lost opportunity for the anti-war movements to actually have an effect on the ability of the US to wage war. If people had attacked the media lies rather then supporting them in advance of March 1st we would have had enough people to succeed. Instead Shannon is still being used by war planes en route to the gulf.

Like it or not Kenneth 'workers' are not an abstraction from some 1920's socialist realist statue. Many of those involved in the direct actions ARE workers. Most of us have leafletted etc. But we recognise that we can go further then this. And far from being elitest we invite you to join us in doing so.

if you have no intention of listening to peple like kenneth then just go and do it! Go ahead with your actions and stop inviting criticism you are determined to ignore. You know you are not going to get blanket appreciation so get on with it, stand up and be counted. Kenneth, you get to work on the workers.

Hey 'divide and conquer' this is not about individual heros acting on behalf of everyone else. The movement as a while needs to turn to direct action, that includes people like Ken. These conversations are all about trying to make that happen while we continue to do our own thing.

I actually agree that (Shannon) workers could take the most effective action - I'm just not going to limit myself to demanding that they do this for us. We have driven 3 troop carrying airliners out, if enough people act we can drive out the rest.

Good idea but why are you posting it here. The authorities do moniter this site for stuff like this. You would be better making phonecalls, texts and emails.

There are hundreds of thousands of targets to take NVDA against. Who cares if the Spies On the Citizens know that we intend to get busy? All the more for them to do, they can't stop it all.

Make your own lists of businesses.

There's lots of politicians out there too!

The strategy is to raise the economic costs so high that Shannon refuelling stops.

No war in my name. No cosy underhanded cheating. No pretending it's not happening.

Kenneth Owende does know much about workers or Trade Unions in Ireland, when he says: " Surely the most important thing now is to get WORKERS to take action"
Most US multinationals in this country do not allow trade unions about the place! Even if they did Shannon proves that the unions and da workers there dont mind having blood stained hands if the cash is right.

I can understand why you have included the others but why the Savoy in particular?

They also monitor phonecalls, texts, and emails.
But they cannot stop us all. Potential direct action locations are too numerous, and people are angry enough, and ingenious enough to initiate their own actions.
Let's all use our initiative, don't wait for directions from self-appointed leaders.

Well, Day X has come and gone, and the blow-holes above occupied nothing. Anarchists are all piss and wind - always with the excuses as to why they didn't succeeed or couldn't do this or that! And it's always somebody's elses fault. GNAW are a bunch of windbags.
