Irelands troops on front line

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Monday March 31, 2003 18:18author by rooster

AROUND 1,000 of the 40,000 British service personnel in Kuwait are from regiments that have direct links to Northern Ireland. More than half of the 650-strong first battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment, which is part of 16 Air Assault Brigade, come from the province. Around 80 of the battalion's soldiers are from the Republic.

The brigade also contains around 80 Royal Irish Rangers (Territorial Army) volunteers from Northern Ireland.
And approximately 300 troops from the Irish Guards are serving with part of 7 Armoured Brigade.
Both brigades come within 1 (UK) Armoured Division.
The Royal Irish Regiment has been moved towards the front line this evening on the Kuwait/Iraq border (source: UTV). Over 80 members of the unit are men from the Republic of Ireland. Lets hope they all return home to Ireland safe and sound in a few weeks. Its good to see some of our fellow citizens defend our freedom.

An unknown number of Ulster folk are serving with other branches of the armed forces, including the RAF, the Royal Navy, the Parachute Regiment and the Royal Marines.

All so that the southern Irish can sleep soundly under the blanket of protection provided by Northern troops.

. . . and each and every one of them should feel ashamed of themselves. their fighting because they got scared shitless by some story made up by a dumb Texan with an absent mind, and those that pull the strings that make him walk and talk where and when they want.

I urge them to grow a set of testicles and refuse to fight. Courage lies in choosing the honourable path. This war is a shameful act . . . and I'm ashamed to be represented by such barbarism.

Hopefully they won't be able to find enough pieces to put in the body bags.

They're British prods who live in Ireland. I support this war but no self respecting Irishman would EVER wear a Bitish uniform.

Bernard, you are one very confused piece of work. They are a mixture of denominations (and none). They are Irish, but their allegiance is to the UK, and it is the likes of you who perpetuate the type of sectarian thinking which prevents them giving their allegiance to Ireland. Piss off to some fascist site, and leave decent people alone.

Sure Saddam would never touch the southern Irish.
Wasn't he a great customer for our beef .....

Hi I'm a brave loyal royal hunrish soldier, of course I'm not from bogland, but I believe strongly that all Irish natives really want to serve their social betters, the brits, our lovely Brit queen Her majesty, and our holy brit crown. I've served at holywood barracks, a great irish place, I had great fun, playing water sports there, and dunking some upstart bogland terrorists heads in baths/basins, see how long they can hold their breath. I'm hoping to settle in another quaint irish country spot called newtonards, and marry a native mongrel or ulster prod gal, then I can sexually abuse her mongrel kids. Afterall they haven't got pure blue brit blood, so its ok.

As a subjugated colonial country, Ireland is doing what it does best: supplying cannon fodder for the Imperial army.

Corporal Clegg had a wooden leg
He won it in the war, in 1944.
Corporal Clegg had a medal too
In orange, red, and blue
He found it in the zoo.
Dear, dear were they really sad for me?
Dear, dear will they really laugh at me?
Mrs. Clegg, you must be proud of him.
Mrs. Clegg, another drop of gin.
Corporal Clegg umbrella in the rain
He's never been the same
No one is to blame
Corporal Clegg recieved his medal in a dream
From Her Majesty the queen
His boots were very clean.
Mrs. Clegg, you must be proud of him
Mrs. Clegg, another drop of gin.

Its good to see the prod scum being thrown up the front yet again by her Majesty. They have made good cannon fodder over the years for their beloved Union.Mind you, the're probably glad to get away from Crossmaglen for a while.

The last comment was sectarian in the extreme. Enough of that, there are Prods that are punk rockers, it is not fair to include them in the equation of scum, you paedophillic taig fenian bastard-(see, see how it feels to get sectarian name calling)Anyway, these Protestants do not feel Irish, the article submitted was by some Orange bigot trying to wind up the rest of us on the island, so, this time, just for once, they call themselves Irish. Really, they are stupid, anyone who joins a modern superstate army deserves whast they get; they signed a contract! So fuck them, big eejits...

Of course.....
Basra, baghdad, ..you need troops that have had training in urban guerilla warfare, manning lethal roadblocks, intimidation and murder of civilians, collusion with paramilitary organisations, etc, etc.. all in the name of Empire.

I am a prod, my comment is directed at brit soldiers, not prods. Not all prods are brit soldiers, but unfortunately for many years now these loyal to the army only fukers have been welcomed unchallenged into working class prod communities. Our protestant youth are brainwashed and sucked out of their working class communities to serve in the brit army for the brit state, look at former soldier squealer Brian Nelson, loyal not, to the working class protestant community, but to his middle class brit army intelligence handlers, serving the brit Queen and his social betters loyally. Once a soldier always a soldier. You cannot serve 2 masters, the Brit establishment and state or your working class protestant community. Make the choice, we rule our areas, not the brit establishment state or its obedient slaves.
