Yay! but surely the Tobin tax only works if *every* country in the world supports it. Otherwise traders can just up sticks each time somewhere introduces the tax.

There's a lot of stuff by economists sympathetic to the Tobin tax which argues that the tax doesnt have to universally applied - that a significant "Tobin Bloc" would suffice for starters. Also relocation itself involves costs for the would be evader. Anyone interested can refer to the further reading articles on the website.
