Placa San Jaume espai alliberat self sustaining camp still stands unevicted

Yesterday 200,000 people took to the streets to protest against War and call for the immediate resignation of Aznar they assembled at Placa Espana in Barcelona.

Just up the road, a smaller bunch of a couple hundred assembled at Placa Paisos Catalans for a Reclaim the Streets thingy that danced passed the shops of Rolls Royce, Ferrari and Porsche, pass an unemployment exchange, pass a disused Bullring the home to refugees and homeless, pass five star hotels, pass the offices of "standard life" and "prosperity" and Repsol.

No-one chose to exercise the civil disobedient right to grafitti or otherwise art action these places.

The RTS bunch took their place as the reargaurd of the 200,000 who stood on the Gran Via de les Corts catalans. ERC republicans and ICV greens both have helium balloons and had a tense moment of seeing who get their balloon higher. The Socialists resisted well the cries of a few Anarchists for "Karl Marx demissio" (Resign Karl Marx), and the blue block kept a respectful distance of 250 metres behind all.

After the middle aged did their standing around and listening to John Lennon "imagine" the Rts bunch dispersed towards Placa San Jaume, where others of the BCN Global collective have maintained a self suficient peace camp and liberated openspace in front of the Government.

We arrived at 21h55 wheeling a hippy microbus which had run out of petrol covered in "aznar resign" posters and preceded by a Banner
"AZNARKIA".

There was then a "cacerola" tekno version with dancing upon the square.

@ 22h59 we stopped.

but not all of us went home.
if you are in Barcelona or close by or know friends in BCN send them to this page.
