We're in Nato!

NATO decided on 16 April 2003 to take on the command, coordination and planning of the International Security Assistance Force operation in Kabul , to which the our Government is illegally contributing Irish soldiers

NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe will select the ISAF commander "from among the Allied nations providing troops to ISAF;" . No longer will the job be rotated as was agreed at the inception of the ISAF.

"strategic coordination, command and control, which will be exercised by the Supreme Allied Headquarters Powers Europe (SHAPE); "

"creation of an ISAF co-ordination cell"

"political direction and coordination by the North Atlantic Council. "

Tommy Franks' Central Command(CENTCOM) now based in Doha to oversee the plunder of Iraqs oil used to control our soldiers in Afghanistan but now the gimp is being handed over to NATO.

They are inheriting a derperate situation but I guess its Europes way of getting a cut of the Caspian sea oil and gas whenever they think they will get it flowing.

A suspected bomb exploded in the Afghan capital, the second this week, the duty officer at the operations department of Kabul security command told AFP. "Police are currently defusing a second device found nearby." Half a dozen armed International Security Assistance Force troops had sealed off one section of the road with two ISAF vehicles. They claimed not to have any knowledge of a bomb explosion but Afghan police at the scene confirmed there had been a blast and that another package containing a suspected bomb had been found.

A blast Sunday night left a two-metre (six-foot) crater at the side of the main Kabul-Jalalabad road.

On March 30 the ISAF headquarters was hit in a rocket attack which wrote off two cars but did not cause any injuries.
