Statement of Prime Minister on war on terrorism.
In a significant contribution to the war against terror, IDF forces carried out a successful attack on a hard-line terrorist stronghold in the Gaza Strip. In a statement issued to the press, Prime Minister Sharon stated that “we are determined to give the maximum possible assistance to President Bush in our joint struggle against international terrorism”, just as U.S. forces have being cracking down on pro Saddam loyalists in Iraq, we will continue to retaliate and indeed launch pre-emptive strikes against Palestinian terror. The two-year-old militant that we put out of action today has ensured that he would not be in a position to launch attacks against Israel in fourteen to sixteen year’s time. This policy is not a new initiative on the part of my Government, said policy has existed and been carried out since 1948” stated the Prime Minister of the Middle East’s only democracy.
He went on to give one example, “the Sabra Shatila anti-terrorist operation where the intervention of our Lebanese allies (under IDF supervision) prevented the birth of potential terrorists by means of a proactive response.”
He also said that all Palestinian terrorists including those not yet born were anti-Semitic.
