A Fitting Tribute to James Plunkett
James Plunkett, author, playwright, trade unionist, socialist, died yesterday aged 83. His play The Risen People will be staged on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th June St Josephs School, Fairview at 8pm.

Includes small historical exhibition about the 1913 Lockout
Plunkett also wrote the novel Strumpet City which tells the epic story of the 1913 Lockout. Another novel was Farewell Companions, a semi-autobiographical saga. He was a trade union offical with the Workers Union of Ireland and later joined RTE where he went on to become Head of Drama.
Removal Friday from Carnegies Funeral Home, 19 The Crescent, Monkstown to Church, Main Street Bray, arriving Bray at 6.30pm.
Funeral Mass on Saturday Morning at 11 am followed by cremation at Mount Jerome Crematorium.
