IRELAND-PALESTINE SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN PRESS RELEASE 4PM 15 MAY 2002 DEPORTED IRISH PEACE ACTIVIST MARY KELLY 'ON HER WAY HOME'.
DEPORTED IRISH PEACE ACTIVIST MARY KELLY 'ON HER WAY HOME'.
Mary Kelly, will be arriving in Dublin Airport on a flight from London, on Thursday evening at 6.10pm.
Mary, a nurse from Cork has been volunteering with the International Solidarity Movement in the Palestinian territories for the past six weeks. She was deported from Israel on Tuesday following her arrest at the end of the siege of the Church of the Nativity last week. Mary has been inside the Church for the final week of the siege after taking food and medical assistance to the Palestinians inside.
She was also in Bethlehem for the worst of the Israeli invasion and smuggled herself into Nablus during the Israeli imposed closures to volunteer with medics from Palestinian Red Crescent.
The IPSC spoke to friends of Mary's earlier today who said that they were very relieved to see her back and that "... despite her imprisonment and deportation by the Israeli authorities she is determined to continue to work for justice for the Palestinian people."
