WCA leaflet 'upsets Bertie'
Below is a Press Release from Working Class Action outlining why we are distributing a leaflet in Dublin Central calling on voters not to support Dr. Dermot Fitzpatrick. Bertie's office has got into an awful tizz about this. A senior Ahern aide has accused people in the wrong and issued threats against WCA activists. He also says Bertie is 'very upset and disappointed.' Awww!

Press Release
Group Rejects Fianna Fail Candidate in Dublin Central
Working Class Action, a group of local political activists, have called on voters in Dublin Central to support Independent and progressive community based candidates rather than those from mainstream parties.
The group see the extremely tight contest for the last seat in the constituency as an opportunity to inflict some damage on the larger of the Government parties. For Fianna Fail to lose the second seat in the Taoiseach’s constituency would be an embarrassment, but more importantly, would also highlight the power a community has to punish politicians who do not represent the views of local people.
Fianna Fail’s Dr. Dermot Fitzpatrick has been targeted due to his support for the double taxation of the Bin Charges and the Pelletstown development against local wishes. Dr. Fitzpatrick has been chosen by Fianna Fail due to their first choice Royston Brady’s continuous gaffes. He is being run in Dublin Central purely to get elected on Bertie Ahern’s surplus vote. The group feel that a ‘default’ candidate such as Dr. Fitzpatrick displays a lack of respect for the people of Dublin Central.
The group states that the record of candidates from all the major parties shows them promoting policies which run directly contrary to the interests of working class people. The group will be leafleting door to door in the constituency.
Working Class Action are encouraging voters in the Cabra, Navan Road and East Wall areas to vote in their own interests and those of their communities, and not to vote down the ballot paper with preferences for the one party.
Working Class Action is an alliance of socialist, republican and community activists. We have come together to promote our belief in working class independence. We believe this can only be achieved by collective political action by communities themselves.
