The cops, feds, guards or whatever you like to call them are using the satirical magazine the Slate as proof that violent confrontation was pre-meditated and organised for May the sixth. Representatives from their representative association have been all over the media spouting this limp line. They have encountered no direct opposition on this specific. They don't get it (surprise). And even if they do they won't because they don't want to and they're floundering, grasping for an escape hatch.

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3In an interview with Eamonn Dunphy
on the last word a few minutes ago, the incoming
president of the Garda Representative association
cited The Slates' article as reason for the Garda
reaction to the RTS events.
The programme seeked an interview with the sitting
president of the GRA, but he declined.
Eoin Maher.
If he/she has any respect for their own work as a writer, the author of the piece in question should clarify to the powers that be the satirical nature of the article.
The Slate don't need to give interviews or hold a press conference.. all they need to do is put out a statement to TV, radio and print media asking if Ireland's senior cops are the thickest on the planet. If they can't recognise satire perhaps they should take early retirement before they start investigating RTE for showing Tom and Jerry cartoons.
Afterall, we all know that they are a subversive and criminal call to drop grand pianos on passersby!
