Below is a summary of the article in the Limerick Leader:
From a boat below Curraghour Falls, the group launched about 40 handmade lanterns to remember the lives lost in the Twin Towers, Afghanistan, the suicide bombs in Israel, the war in Iraq and all who have perished in acts of terror worldwide.
The effect was to create a carpet of light.
Speakers were organiser Mary Hughes of the Midwest Alliance against Militarism, Tim Hourigan (who helped make the lanterns) and Ed Horgan. Tim hoped they would float all the way to Foynes. He also hoped that world leaders would no longer resort to violence.
Meanwhile a remembrance mass and prayer service were held in the Augustinian Church in O'Connell Street
