I. What is Center on Animal Liberation Affairs?

MISSION:
The Center on Animal Liberation Affairs is an
organization established to partake in the study,
research, and discussion of the principles and
practices of animal rights and animal liberation.
Specifically, we seek to contextualize the Animal
Liberation Front (ALF) and underground players in the
struggle.

RESOURCES:
The Center engages in critical and philosophical
dialogue through an online journal, a speakers bureau,
and consulting on animal liberation issues.
Furthermore, we provide assistance in exploring
elements of other social justice struggles. We have a
slowly growing merchandise line as well.

II. What is the Animal Liberation Front?

The Animal Liberation Front (ALF) is an international,
anonymous organization that takes direct action on
behalf of billions of animals exploited around the
world. Its actions are illegal in nature, yet follow a
strict set of guidelines as noted below. The ALF
believes that its financially devastating tactics are
a necessary component in the animal liberation
movement because the underlying motivation for all
exploitation is capital gain. Although there is no
official membership, individuals and/or "cells" of
dedicated activists operating around the world make up
the Animal Liberation Front.

The A.L.F. guidelines are:

To liberate animals from places of abuse, i.e.
laboratories, factory farms, fur farms, etc., and
place them in good homes where they may live out
their natural lives, free from suffering.

To inflict economic damage to those who profit
from the misery and exploitation of animals.

To reveal the horror and atrocities committed
against animals behind locked doors, by performing
non-violent direct actions and liberations.

To take all necessary precautions against harming
any animal, human and non-human.

III. Does the Center on Animal Liberation Affairs
support the Animal Liberation Front?

CALA supports the ALF because we understand the
importance of illegal direct action in any movement.
However, we encourage everyone to critically assess
any tactic (legal or illegal) based on the given
situation.

IV. What is the goal of the Center on Animal
Liberation Affairs?

CALA's goal is to provide support to direct action
taken on behalf of animals.

CALA seeks to:

1) Educate the public about the ALF and other
underground players in the animal liberation movement.

2) Counter popular misconception about the 'violence'
illegal tactics reflect.

3) Disseminate information (specificically within
academia) to ensure that animal liberation
is recognized as a legitimate social justice movement
in the world. CALA feels that all social movements
must include a range of tactics, players, and
campaigns in order to maintain a progressive focus.

V. When and why was the Center on Animal Liberation
Affairs established?

The Center on Animal Liberation Affairs was
established in March of 2002 to initiate constructive
dialogue about the actions and philosophy of the
Animal Liberation Front within various spheres of
society.

VI. Does the Center on Animal Liberation Affairs have
a working relationship with the Animal Liberation
Front or any other underground organization?

The Center on Animal Liberation Affairs has no
relationship with the Animal Liberation Front or any
underground group. The ALF members are unknown and
communicate their messages and report actions via
anonymous media.

VII. How can I get involved?

We always need volunteers to help with media work,
encouraging schools to include material on animal
rights, disseminating information, etc.
