UL Green Fair Report

Here's my (extremely late, sorry!) report from the University of Limerick Green Fair, held last Wednesday week. Hope u like it :-)

The Green Fair was held in the Stables and Scholars
Courtyards of the Student Centre here the
University of Limerick, on Wednesday the 5th of
November from 10am-4pm. We did it basically to
promote a more environmentally friendly
alternative to humdrum modern life. To do this
we invited a number of different local traders,
craftspeople, organic vendors and the like to
come to UL, and combined that with a few stalls,
constructions(!), activities and other societies
stuff to make a potent mix! The Environmental
Society has been running the Green Fair for 7
years now (I think).
The day started of a little frantic,
as loads of stallholders arrived simultaneously,
while we set up stalls for them and attempted to
construct the geo-dome in borderline gale-force
winds, as a number of people (names will be with
held to protect the guilty) who were to help
snoozed on ;-). But we got it sorted, and
everything was ready by about half 10.
The crowds built up throughout the
day, it was probably at its most busy a little
after lunch, it was great to see so many people
around enjoying the gorgeous food, free tea,
face painting, juggling and cycling the bike
generator and listening to either the drum n'
bass r the traditional music society! All this
while people browsed thru the most beautiful
crafts, wonderfully designed jewellry and nifty
threads.
I think it was definitly a successful,
enjoyable day. All the students that i spoke to
said they felt that it really added a nice
atmosphere and something different to the norm
in college, while the stallholders also declared
themselves well pleased with the day. And i just
want to thank everybody who helped organise it,
it wudnt hav happened without ye.
Lookin forward to next year already!!!
