Successful gathering in Donegal Town
About 40 people gathered in the Bosco Community Centre in Donegal Town on Sunday to celebrate International Day Against Racism and to sing, dance, drum and pray for equality, peace and justice in the world.
Speakers included Pastor Moba from The Congo who is an Asylum Seeker in Donegal Town. Pastor Moba called upon everyone present to reflect that ‘on this Mother's day we do not choose our mother just like we do not choose our race. We are part of one race, the human race and we are all equal in this earth'.
Following a candle lit ceremony, performers from Somalia, Cameroon, South Africa and beyond led the crowd in an inspiring display of dance, drumming and singing. They were joined later by tribesmen and women from Donegal, Cavan and other localities before ending with a rendition of Bob Marley’s ‘No Woman, No Cry’.
