Anti-Brand Lobbyists Are Making An Impact
Ad Industry mag Marketing Week reports that global brands are being affected by activist lobbying.
A very happy Mayday to yis all, brother and sister workers of the world. And on this day of celebration, it's good to report that forces working for good are actually having some effect.
The advertising and branding industry magazine Marketing Week reports [April 28, 2005, p.7.] that activists such as Naomi [No Logo] Klein are having an effect on the behaviour of global conglomerates. The magazine devotes it's cover feature to the impact lobbyists have had on global branding. And in his editorial, Stuart Smith writes:
" Lobbyists... play a prominent, and probably under-represented, role in moulding public attitudes; they can be characterised as at once secretive and pivotal in the relationship between consumers, business and politicians. But by far the most galvanising influence is the threat of hostile legislation, whether regulatory or in the form of class actions instigated by consumers themselves."
Power, as they say, to the people. A nice thought for Mayday.
