Bad deals have been rammed through by union bosses by attrition, if workers reject restructering deals the same deal with trivial changes comes back again and again for re-vote. The had plenty of practice before they supported Nice re-vote. Many public services have been so degraded including health and education that they are not seen as viable any more. Sick people fear hospital and UCD is full of students who are the product of private education.The wearing down of workforces until they are glad to accept early retirement and the termination of their jobs has been a key part of the unions role in Social Partnership for a long time. It has been their indispensible service to the bosses to clear the way for privatisation of the public sector ,workers social gains including even their pensions. The expressions of outrage from the union bureaucrats are the purist of hypocrisy. Where are they now when the rossport people are jail and GAMA is still in possession of publicly funded contracts despite their lawbreaking? They are in with the govt. and IBEC negotiating more of the same
