Globally the issue of women's reproductive rights has become an issue in Poland, where
LPR are agigtating for constitutional change to restrict medical/therapeutic abortion.

In Nicaragua Daniel Ortega agreed to criminalise abortion, including medical abortion
one month before the Nicaraguan General election, this followed an intensive campaign
in that country by the Catholic Church.

The ongoing debate in Poland involves those Twin Pillars of moral authority; the Church and State
which continue their disection of the morality of abortion, without reference to the fact that
medical abortion and right to choice is essentially a woman's issue.

In this country, we prefer to pretend that the need for medical abortion is non-existent, thus 'export'
our women and children to the UK for the procedures.

Info on the fora and workshops held in Dublin is in the Newsletter, there will be a further
series of events organised by Alliance for Choice sometime in the New year.

"essentially a woman's issue"- says Colin. Why should you profer your own opinion then, you being of the less fair sex? Because all issues of a moral nature effect society, of which we are all apart, and concern the criteria of what constitutes good and bad-this therefore being a human issue, not a particularised (gender) issue. If a woman can, or should, abort her child because of its defects (mental/physical etc) then we have to rethink the status we accord to the disabled members of our community. Most of us know someone with severe mental and/or physical disabilities, how should we treat these people? as if they should not have existed? or as having inviolable dignity? not just a woman's issue Colin.

A quick thought experiment for you Colin, where did you spend the first nine months of your life? a socialist workshop? a feminist think tank? no, your mothers womb. You are now a fully grown male (presumably), is abortion solely a woman's issue?

There are virtually no children in holland with downes syndrome- why?-abortion.
There are far more baby boys in china than baby girls. why?-abortion. (what do the feminists have to say about that?)

solely an issue for the women of those respective countries? has the world gone a little mad?

Did my eyes decieve me when I read that the attorney mentioned above is a "human rights" specialist??? Is that a msiprint or a horrible, horrible joke? How can a supporter of "human rights" advocate abortion, any more than they could support the death penalty or genocide?? We live in a sick world and the example of the hijacking of the term human rights by those advocating murder is an example. For Shame.
