Richard Manton, a member of Socialist Youth, said “Young people face some of the worst exploitation today, with young workers being paid less than ordinary workers and school students being treated as second class citizens. Things like climate change and the ‘race to the bottom’ will have the biggest impact on us and our future – that’s why its important we discuss the alternative!”.

The mini-festival begins at 1pm with a debate between Socialist Youth and the Young PDs on ‘Global Warming, Health Crisis, Poverty: Is the Capitalist Market to blame?’. Fireworks will fly as these two opposites collide. Mr. Manton continued “The PDs would have us believe that privatisation and big businesses are the solutions to the worlds problems – the reality is it is the rule of profit which has caused those problems!”

After this there will be a discussion at 3 on ‘Che Guevara and Struggle for Socialism in Latin America Today’. Mr. Manton went on to say “With this year being the 40th anniversary of Che’s death it is a very appropriate time to look at his legacy, particularly given the different uprisings taking place in Latin America at the moment.”

At 4:30 there the must-see environmental documentary ‘Who killed the electric car?’ will be shown. This environmental documentary, narrated by Martin Sheen , documents how car companies bought the rights to the electric car and suppressed its production. It will be followed with a brief chat about fighting climate change.
