3 min clip (very funny), an analysis and an update

In a transition reminiscent of the co-option of the Greens in Ireland, Midnight Oil's lead singer now finds himself as Australia's Minister of the Environment in a ministry now gutted by the right wing PM Rudd. Garrett has rapidly reversed his former radical poilitics to fast track to power and status. Here's a humourous clip, an analysis & an update!

Word has come through that another 500 + troops are deploying from Enoggera Base today (Friday Nov 30) to Iraq.

Although the Rudd/Garrett Australian Labor Party government came to power on anti-war sentiment, the deployments continue. At the APEC conference in Sydney rush told Bush that the troops would be brought home next year and replaced with trainers. More significantly, the NSA/CIA Pine Gap base that targets for U.S. missile attacks in Iraq and Afghanistan (the same base that Garrett use to sing and rail against) is unquestioned by the new Labor government. The Australian military commitment to Afghanistan remains unchanged by the Rudd/Garrett Australian Labor Party government.
