New Orleans Reconstruction Movement Presidential Candidate , Cynthia McKinney, Interview

category international | politics / elections | other press author Wednesday January 09, 2008 14:40author by tomeile

Another black American is running for President . Cynthia McKinney, a former Democrat from Georgia, was one of only three members of Congress to vote "yes" on a House Resolution in 2005 calling for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. One of her last acts in office was introducing Articles of Impeachment naming George Bush, Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice.

With thousands of Afro-Americans still refugees in their own country following Hurricane Kathrina three years ago , McKinney is running on a reconstruction programme . She is demanding that the billions currently being spent on war should be used to address " .......the conditions of poverty, racism, and neglect that have existed since America's first Reconstruction Period after the Civil War."

There will probably be a few left /environmental /anti war candidates running in the November poll . McKinney seems the best to have come forward so far . The outcome of the election will effect the whole of the world - that's if Bush doesn't find some reason to cancel it of course . It seems a pity that the rest of the world doesn't have any say in who gets to have their finger on the button.

Yes raising the protest vote would be no bad thing.

Back in the time of Franklin Roseveldt candidates who were socialists used

to get substantial number of votes,

There should be a message to distressed communities not to

expect anything from establishment agencies and political parties.
