It's not CO2 that drives the climate, says astrophysicist Dr Henrik Svensmark. Its the Sun and cosmic rays. But you won't hear about this because only one viewpoint is now allowed in the pseudo-science of climate.

Shannon Torture Watch

category clare | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Friday July 25, 2008 01:03author by John Lannon Report this post to the editors

The regular Shannon vigil to oppose complicity in human rights abuses and war will take place from 5 to 6pm on Sunday August 10th. Meeting place is the small roundabout before the entrance to the airport.

It may be the quiet holiday season for most people in the mid-West of Ireland, but the wars and the suffering continue in Iraq, Afghanistan and many other parts of the world. So too does the illegal "disappearance", detention and torturing of thousands of adults and children around the world - all in the name of a politically and economically motivated "war on terror".

Our government have us playing a major part in all this by making Shannon airport available without question to the US military and CIA.

Register your objection by joining the one-hour vigil at Shannon.

Does anyone know (I have been away) whether there have been any letters of protest written to the national newspapers or to local papers in Bray? Should have imagined this would be a natural first response. The GAAW in Galway fought hard to finally bring to the public's attention what the Salthill Air Show was actually about and they found themselves up against all kinds of vested interests; no, I am not a spokesman for them, but I was active in these protestations. It is in the interest of both the US and UK military establishments to have these airshows.

Does anyone know if their are any cars travelling to Shannon from Dublin for the vigil? Or can you tell me how to get to the roundabout from the bus Eireann route?
