Palestine mural updated in Belfast

category antrim | miscellaneous | news report author Friday January 02, 2009 00:40author by Ciarán Ó Brolcháin - IPSC Report this post to the editors

In April 2008 a mural was unveiled on Belfast's International Wall as part of commemorations of the 60th anniversary of Al Nakba. See here for more: http://www.indymedia.ie/article/87148

In response to the latest Israeli onslaught against the Palestinian people, the mural was recently updated to include a new take on the lyrics of John Lennon's famous Christmas song, War is Over.

Nice, really ''beautiful'' picture.

Watch out for Moshe, he will be here to criticize this soon enough.........

He will defend everything from, and seems to be 'FOR', the Iraq invasion, to Israeli attacks, to the Afghanistan 'war' and willing to fully criticize against any argument. He is not against Muslims though.
BUT, if you are 'AGAINST' mass slaughter in (places like) Gaza it is you who is against Jews... apparently!?! His arguments are beyond rationale and he is a mouthpiece for the system that divides this world. He is one sided, you'll never get any sense of reality living like that.

The so-called Palestinian refugee problem is not the concern of Israel. There are more than 5 million Palestinians who claim to be refugees but were not born in Israel and never lived there.
The vast majority of Israelis were born in Israel, it is their homeland.
Those who talk about right of return are asking for an invasion of Israel.

Thats hilarious Moshe. The Zionists claimed a right of return 100 odd years ago based on nothing other than the dubious writings of the Old Testament/Talmud saying that 2,000 years ago it had been their homeland. Yet according to you people who's families were driven out less than a century ago have no right to return because they weren't born in Israel.

Israel has been continuously inhabited by the Jews for thousands of years.

author by Sharon . - Individual .publication date Fri Jan 02, 2009 15:51author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Hi Moshe !

"Israel has been continuously inhabited by the Jews for thousands of years."

Another Moshe (- Dayan , an Israeli military leader and politician -) would disagree with you :

"We came here to a country that was populated by Arabs and we are building here a Hebrew, a Jewish state; instead of the Arab villages, Jewish villages were established. You even do not know the names of those villages, and I do not blame you because these villages no longer exist. There is not a single Jewish settlement that was not established in the place of a former Arab Village." (Moshe Dyan, March 19, 1969, speech at the Technion in Haifa, quoted in Ha'aretz, April 4, 1969.)

And -
"We should demand his blood not from the [Palestinian] Arabs of Gaza but from ourselves. . . . Let us make our reckoning today. We are a generation of settlers, and without the steel helmet and gun barrel, we shall not be able to plant a tree or build a house. . . ." (From page 101 of 'The Iron Wall: Israel and the Arab World' , authored by Avi Shlaim.)

Thanks!

Sharon.

yes my freind, your right, jews have lived there long time.... but remember they are arab jews that have been there long time, not the mostly white european jews that claim palestine as there own and that currently occupy that land... yes thats right ARAB JEWS, ARAB CHRISTIANS and ARAB MUSLIMS all lived in this land together, could you imagine if all chrisians in the world tried to claim the holy lands fo themeselves, this is wot foreign jews are doing not the arab jews who along with muslim arabs and christian arabs have lived in palestine long time. why are jewish people in denial of the native bloodline all people of this region possess (if they are native holy landes or decendents). moshe, good luck getting your head round this obvious truth..

Jews and Arab Muslims live side by side in the State of Israel.
Arab Muslims serve loyally in Israeli military and Hamas rockets have killed an Israeli Arab Muslim in the last few days.

Israelis are committed to a two state solution - an Israeli state and a Palestinian state living in peaceful co-existence.

Hamas however and the Palestinians who voted for them, are dedicated to Israel's destruction, the conquest of Israeli territory and the murder of all Israeli Jews.

No doubt Israeli Arab Muslims, Druze, Samaritans and Christians who live in Israel will also be targets for mass murder.

Palestinians will witness an end to war and occupation when they recognise the State of Israel and stop attacking Israel.

Gaza is no longer occupied by Israeli soldiers or the 9,000 Israeli settlers the Sharon government removed by force.

What was the result?

Palestinians elected Hamas and since then the daily rocket attacks have not stopped.

Israel has the right to defend itself and Israel will defend itself.

Stop appeasing terror.

Hi again , Moshe !

I note in your reply (above) that you did not dis-agree with the statement by Israeli military leader and politician Moshe Dayan that Israelis are '...settlers in Gaza (using) steel helmets and gun barrels..... '

No doubt you will now attempt a verbal contortion to 'explain' that description away ?

Thanks!

Sharon.

Firstly, alot of the pressure of Israel is not denying that they have the right to protect themselves, off course they do, but can you justify for me how the murder of 270ish Children is defense? 884 civilians have been reported as murdered already in Gaza, an area which is too small to properly carry out an accurate military attack on Hamas, who are legally and democratically elected. 14 Israelis Soldiers have been killed in Gaza, four of whom were killed by Israeli Soldiers. The pressure on Israel is due to the unproportionate murder.

I won't cliam to be knowledgable in the History of Palestine, but I will say the attacks on Gaza are wrong, as too many innocent people are being murdered.
