Derry republicans remember Sean Keenan
Keenan was a life-long Republican, and Honorary Vice President for life of Sinn Féin, who endured three periods of internment amounting to a total of 15 years. For a period in 1969 he was also chairperson of the Derry Citizens Defence Associaton - an organisation which played a significant role in the defence of Free Derry during the Battle of the Bogside.

The annual Seán Keenan commemoration will take place in Derry City on Sunday 1st March 2009.
Assemble at the Keenan monument in the Bogside at 3pm.
Oration will be delivered by Des Dalton, Sinn Féin Vice President and local election candidate for Athy Town Council.
