Shell heads at Bilderberg meeting in Greece last month

category international | summit mobilisations | opinion/analysis author Wednesday June 24, 2009 16:20author by john Report this post to the editors

Published on several internet sites and this months Phoenix are reports of Shell executives present at this meeting of white global elite types between 14th and 16th May.

Their names are John Kerr, former British ambassador to US and deputy chairman of Shell UK, also Jeroen Van der Veer, CEO Netherlands.

Also present at this meeting were Irishman Dermot Gleeson who is or has been involved with Independent News Media, has recently resigned as Chairman of AIB and is chairman of UCC governing body since 2007 and another Irishman Peter Sutherland who is worth looking at on Wikipedia as someone who has his fingers in a lot of pies.

A Guardian journalist, Charlie Skelton attempting to report on events was seriously followed and harassed over several days.

A lot of the left in Ireland are allergic to this sort of thing, calling it conspiracy theory, and from trawling over the internet the subject attracts a lot of insanity but knowing what I know of the dynamics of power it appears pretty certain that these types of groups do exist, Bilderberg, Trilateral Commission etc, that these meetings do happen and that, like another layer of power behind or interlocking with the G8, the WTO and the IMF, the decisions made at them affect our lives and as a result we should pay them some attention. Perhaps doing more research into the links these powerful men ( they are nearly all men) have into our lives and making that info more available would be a good start.

Perhaps taking our issues to them personally as another option to banging our heads against Shell, IRMS and the Gardai in places like Erris.

Understanding the mechanisms and structures of power so we can dismantle it

These guys are so removed from the effects of their decisions they need to be made very uncomfortable.
They'll be meeting next year somewhere too....

Indeed, Peter Sutherland has attended the Bilderberg meeting a number of times over the years. He was Attorney General at one time and was then later in the European Commission where he was head of competition policy. Later he was director of GATTs the World Trade Organisation body, then in Goldman Sachs and Royal Bank of Scotland. Both of these institutes have been central players in the current financial fiasco.

Also most people will not beware that to go to one of these meetings, you must be invited. Oddly both Bill Clinton and Tony Blair were invited (separate years) before either of them became elected leaders.

Regarding the various conspiracy theory groupings, of which there are many, the Bilderberg thing occupies central place in their theories. However the worst or most extreme of these theories suggest that those attending are part of a centuries old clique that control world events and have done so for years. The main problem or rather logical flaw in these arguments, is that somehow they must be non-human as they allege that they perfectly control events and don't make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. Then the worst of these theories move further away from logical sense suggesting all manner of relationships to letters, number sequences and symbols or basically borderline astrology almost. So by sleight of hand they effectively take something that is true, (the meetings and peolple) and by virtue of the fact that lets face it, they are important people, to those not familiar with the details of global institutes and other matters, they make what appears to be a small hop, but is a massive hop to the hypothesis that they control everything.

It is very unfortunate that these few get the predominant coverage and what the public seems to by reflex think of, when the word Bilderberg or Trilaterial emerge.

The fact is that a series of meetings called the Bilderberg meetings have taken place every year since the 1950s. In all of these meetings, the presss are not allowed in, no press releases are made, and there is very very tight security. Security is in fact probably tighter than most other meetings of heads of state. The people who have and do attend these meetings are by and large very important and influential people in the business, corporate, media and political world.

Some of the people who have attended regularly are the likes of Henry Kissinger. As many will know, he is a war criminal, having had a major role in stalling for years an end to the Vietnam war, was personnally involved on a daily level in the illegal carpet bombing of Cambodia in the 1970s and the result of which led to the devastation of the country, allowing the Khmer Rouge to come in later. He was centrally involved in the Chille Allende assassination in 1972. His later career saw his involvement in Iran and Central America.

So while we do not know for certain exactly what is the role or the significance of these Bilderberg meetings, the heavy hitters who do attend, the extreme levels of security and harrassement that anyone gets who tries to poke their nose in this, all suggests something quite sinister and given the importance of these people on the world stage, politically and economically, it is therefore of uttermost importance that more information is sought on this.

Again, it is regrettable that the simplistic and occaisionaly racist type analysis provided by some groupings serves to scare everyone else away from paying attention to these particular annual meetings and the associated people who attend.

One reasonable view of what does happen is that it seems a rough agenda is prepared for in advance by a smaller group and then those who do the inviting, pick people who they think are relevant to that subject area. At the meetings free flow and frank disucssion is allowed and given that the type of people listening and participating in the meetings are present, they will of course take on board what these people say. They may not agree, but it is simply quite natural for any human discussing something important with someone who is quite important in that field, will later take on board some of their ideas and at least will be influenced by what they had to say.

It is of course a lot more difficult to infer with any certainity beyond that what further actions or consequences would flow from these meetings, but I think we can be reasonably confident the above is true.

The Irish Government recently gave €3,500,000,000 of our money to Dermot Gleesons AIB bank. What is AIB doing with OUR money They are certainly not loaning it out. Is Mr Gleeson getting his orders at the Bilderberger meeting? This Bilderberger Group acts in what I would consider to be a criminal fashion in that they conspire with leaders of business and finance as well as Government officials to implement their own secret agenda. The secret agenda of the ultra rich banks and financiers. We are not allowed to know what AIB is doing with our money because it is 'sensitive' information but I am sure the Bilderbergers are allowed to know or direct what is done with our money.

Thanks for the sane responses. Let's keep it that way. What disturbs me the most about conspiracy theorists is that they often fail to present possible solutions or responses to the scenarios they revel in describing, with the result that anyone reading them comes away feeling powerless. I feel it is important when imparting information to be aware of the effects of that information on its receivers. If we want to empower people we can't just weigh them down with scary stuff like this we have to provide tools for dealing with what can be a very frightening change of world view.
Anyway. We all live on this planet, these folks seem to play a huge role in screwing it up for the rest of us. I think they are human too, albeit disconnected from the rest of us to a huge degree. They may be ruthless, they may be powerful but as their fellow humans we have a responsibility for their actions and we need to bring them to account.
Nothing is too heavy to be knocked over on it's arse.
