Republican Sinn Féin have criticised the so-called "Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association" (ISME) for their partitionism, suggesting that it is patriotic to forget about one and a half million Irish people on the north-eastern side of the British-created border.
Mark Fielding of the ISME has said that he would “like to see a bit more patriotism and shopping locally down in the south of Ireland.” He was responding to the awarding of a Stg £1,000,000 HSE contract to supply fruit and vegetables to hospitals in County Donegal to a firm based in the County Derry village of Claudy.
A spokesman for Republican Sinn Féin pointed out that the country consists of thirty-two counties, and that to suggest otherwise was what was unpatriotic. “There is a duty on Irish people to protect all Irish jobs, regardless of which side of the border they are on”, he added.
