A German and Irish boyhood in WWII and post-war years

An account of the experiences of a German boy in a suburb of wartime Cologne with graphic descriptions of life there and further afield in Germany. After the war one of the German children brought to Ireland by the Red Cross and he describes his life in Ireland which he thoroughly enjoyed. He stayed with different families but with a family in Ballinlogh, Co. Mayo, for the most part. This is a very well written memoir with a fresh and informative view of rural Ireland in the 1940s.
