Sunday 1st September 2002 is World Peace Day. A 24-hour Women's Peace Camp will be held from noon on Saturday 31st August, beside the approach road to Shannon Airport near the last bus stop before the airport itself.

Sunday 1st September 2002 is World Peace Day. A 24-hour Women's Peace Camp will be held from noon on Saturday 31st August, beside the approach road to Shannon Airport near the last bus stop before the airport itself. There will be a large flag and a white banner flying at the spot, so don't lost heart if you can't immediately find us.
Facilities. The airport itself will be open for toilets and food. Shannon town is quite close. The camp will be safe for chidren and dogs (if supervised) -- safety & flexibility will be our first priority.
Activities will include: --
Monitoring U.S. military flights day and night.
A stall in Shannon town for pamphlets, info, etc.
Launch of a global petition to all governments ("Invest in Caring not Killing: we the people of the world demand that 'the war with no end', and the arms trade & genocide it imposes, be brought to an end, etc. e-mail , webpage ").
Workshops. Suggestions: No2Nice2, Sellafield, 3rd Global Women's Strike, and Anti-Incineration.
After the 24 hours (when legally cars, campers, tents, etc., will have to be moved into regular parking space) we will hold a People's Demo outside the airport buildings, 1 pm, Sunday 1st Sept.. Banners, flags, noise: bring your own gear.
There are regular bus-services to Shannon Airport from Ennis & Limerick.
