Preas Ráiteas ó RNU/RNU Press Release
It has been brought to the attention of the Republican Network for Unity that a British warship, the HMS Daring docked at Ocean pier 32, Alexandra Road in Dublin Port.
The presence of this British military vessel is part of an ongoing campaign by the Irish and British governments to normalise the imperialist occupation of our Country. In truth, life for Irish citizens is far from normal. There are still 15,000 British troops, thousands of MI5 personnel and a heavily militarised RUC/PSNI involved in a sustained campaign against the Nationalist and Republican community in the Six Counties. Through constant street searches deemed illegal by the European Court, unwarranted house raids and even the use of internment without remand.
RNU find it abhorrent that a British warship be welcomed to occupy a berth in Dublin port while the above abuse of Irish citizens persists in the North. Our Network denounces the Warship’s presence as grossly offensive and we demand its immediate exit from Irish waters.
RNU’s Dublin Cumann are at present planning a number of protests to coincide with this ship’s unwelcome presence here. Therefore, our Ard Comhairle appeals to Republicans of all shades to oppose this insulting visit.
Finally, the Republican Network for Unity reiterate that any section of the British Armed Forces are not welcome in any part of Ireland, be it Belfast, Derry or Dublin!

Would it not make sense to have a big protest rather that a number of smaller ones?
But its probably to do with the RNU policy of not attending any event at which they cannot carry their banners. Eirigi in general ask other groups to remove banners at their events.
I would just like to say politics aside what a fine looking vessel the Daring is.She looked so stealth as she steamed into Dublin....the more visits the better in my view.We need to move on from history book politics and look forward. They will be building new aircraft carriers soon, wouldnt it be great to see such vessels in Dublin Bay?
Did an RNU protest ever materialise?
Be good to get a report. heard éirígí managed to shut down the entire port with there protest, thats the type of stuff you want.
Just imagine what could be done with 1 big protest.
doesnt say much for rnu's commitment to 'unity'
